Sanctuary for healing therapies massage

The Sanctuary for the Healing Therapies is a place to release tension, stress, and emotions. One of The Sanctuary’s guiding philosophies is that when some issue is stored in the body, it’s stored in the mind as well. Both body and mind are vitally important, and both need healing. Though the treatment descriptions below focus on the physiological benefits, FreeDom strives to move beyond the physical realm and to integrate both mind and body in all treatments so that clients can fully experience inner peace.

Deep Tissue Massage: This treatment targets the deep-tissue structure of the fascia and muscles and breaks up and eliminates scar tissue. It focuses easing chronic muscular tension and pain by breaking up and releasing built-up toxins, encouraging better blood flow and oxygenation throughout the body.

Neuromuscular Therapy: Used to locate and release spasms and hyper-contractions in muscle tissue, this therapy aids the healing process for injured tissue, assists in venous and lymphatic flow, restores postural alignment, and imparts flexibility to the tissues. Neuromuscular therapy is used to treat conditions such as chronic pain, sciatica, rotator-cuff dysfunction, carpal tunnel syndrome, TMJ (jaw) pain, and migraines.

Myofascial Release: This therapy attempts to release tension in the fascia due to trauma, posture, or inflammation by employing long stretching strokes meant to balance tissue and muscle mechanics and improve joint range of motion in order to relieve pain. Connective tissues called fascia surround the muscles, bones, nerves, and organs of the body. Points of restriction in the fascia can place a great deal of pressure on nerves and muscles causing chronic pain.

Sports Massage: Deep and therapeutic, this treatment includes passive stretching and suggested home care. Although you don’t need to be athletic for a sports massage, it is excellent for athletes. The therapy increases circulation of blood and lymph and helps you regain mobility and flexibility.

Relaxation/Stress Relief Massage: These gentle techniques reduce stress, promote mind-body wellness, diminish pain, relax muscles, improve circulation and flush out waste products from the body.

Pre & Post Natal Massage: This type of massage assists the mother with relaxation and eases the physical and emotional stresses that come along with all of the delights. Pillows and bolsters are used to assist in comfort.

Reiki: A Japanese word, Reiki means cosmic or universal life force. By working with the chakras and using gentle touch, we balance the energy in your body, thus creating healing. Reiki assists in restoring harmony to mind, body and spirit.

Thai Massage: A form of body therapy traditionally done on a mat rather than a massage table. The client is dressed in loose comfortable clothing. Thai massage includes therapeutic stretching, joint mobilization, rhythmic deep-tissue compression, toning of the energy lines, acupressure, and assisted hatha yoga poses. Not only will you feel calm and relaxed, but energetic and ready for whatever the world bring your way.

CranioSacral: This therapy is a system of gentle touch designed to enhance the functioning of the membranes, tissues, fluids, and bones surrounding or associated with the brain and spinal cord.
